I put a rosary on it, and I also did sort of a Light a Virtual Candle for Our Priests instead of a guest book. | Dear Shelley, I am SO DELIGHTED to see that you were able to work on your website -- just so we can all know that you are "hanging in there." You are CLEARLY such a special person. I, too, have experienced quite a bit of illness and have spent more time in doctors' offices and hospitals in the past year than I wish to spend in the rest of my life combined. Illness and surgery kept me from going through RCIA last fall, but I very much hope to go through it this fall. In the meantime, your website is a continual source of inspiration and encouragement. | Dear, dear, little Shelley, I owe you such an apology for not keeping very good contact the last few monthes. Seems we both have been tied up with health problems and personal things and when we can like to build on our websites. I found your Christmas gifts today and can't believe I still haven't mailed them to you! I am soooo bad! thank you so much for the lovely Christmas card and the presents you sent me. They will be forever cherished. You know you are in my thoughts and prayers and that I feel so sad for your pain and all you go through. Hi to your precious Tom. Your site is so lovely and comforting. You have the sweetest spirit, much like Bernadette; suffering so and still saving grace and spirit. What a dear, dear, little angel you are.... Remember you are always in my heart, little girl. (Don't feel bad about the weight. You will always be a little one in our hearts. We know your spirit, so full and tender and gentle , from such a darling little soul.) hugs, angel.... I love you, Your umpymama from your umpymama Mary Ellen[email] [homepage] 5:09 pm - Friday,April 5, 2002 |
| Hi, Shelley and Tom, I tried to e-mail you, but the delivery notification said that it failed. I don't know what happened. | Dear Shelley, I was moved with an overwhelming compassion and at the same time with admiration for you during this difficult time of suffering that you are experiencing. My mother once told me that the Lord chastises those that He loves, and well, I guess what He is asking you to endure is affirmation of how very much He loves you! I was thinking that this website is in itself a true ministry, because of the many souls you are guiding to a deeper, and more meaningful relationship to Christ, by the inspiration you give in your own suffering. I shall offer you and your loving husband up in my own prayer this night, and if it be God's will, I will pray for a miracle on your behalf...Once again thak you for sharing... from Linda Schulle[email] [homepage] 1:07 am - Saturday,October 13, 2001 |

| Hi Shelley. My name is Michealeena (Bernadette is my soon-to-be confirmation name) and I'm 13 years old. I was diagnosed with scoliosis in 5th grade. It wasn't a big deal then. My doctors made the mistake of telling us to wait and see what happened. I didn't get back to the doctor for two years and in that time it had progressed. My back hurt worse and worse every day. Once I finally got back to the doctor he said that I would have to be put in a brace that would postpone surgery. Well I opted for a more difficult route but more beneficial. It was a different kind of brace along with a certain diet, excercizes and chiropractic visits that would cost me 2 hours of my time 2-3 days a week. I've tried to be strong, I know that God is looking after me. But I still couldn't help but wonder "why do I have to go through this. why can my parents and brothers eat bread and all the foods i love and I CAN'T?!" It really depressed me. Then soon after I started having doubts about my faith. I heard that people with strong beliefs are mentally and physically stronger than those who doubt them. I just didn't know anything anymore. I mean, it was evident to me that there was a God, but other than that, I didn't know. Well I'm still grappling with my faith, but after reading your story and researching the story of St. Bernadette, I'm much stronger. I want to thank you for helping me realize I'm not alone, and that I really am blessed. I also realized that I'm a bit of a complainer and I really do need to work on that. Thank you so much. May God bless you, we need more people like you in this world. --Michealeena Bernadette from Michealeena Bernadette[email] [homepage] 1:46 am - Saturday,October 6, 2001 |
